What is MCT?
MCT stands for medium-chain triglyceride which is an oil that contains medium-length chains of fats called triglycerides. Due to their shorter length, MCTs are more easily broken down and digested, therefore they have many health benefits.
MCT oil is most commonly extracted from coconut oil, as approximately 55% of the fat in coconut oil comes from MCTs. These fats are also can be found in palm oil (54%) and dairy products (butter: 8%).
There are several reasons why MCT oil can be beneficial when you’re trying to lose weight:
